What a first 6 months of 2025

All the details resulting from our visit in January have been completed with tanks added, new meters installed and fencing improved.

We have now managed four new villages this year thanks to some great donors, and our own income from framing.

Sami Essau is near Barra with a population of 1,500 people, however the other three villages (Bantanto (1,200 people), Mboyeen Dara (1,500 people) and Bansang (1,000 people) are further up the river around a 3.5hr drive from Brikama, and near to Georgetown (see blue arrow on the map). This means increased transport costs but we realised (guided by Neneh) that these villages are in even greater need than those closer to main transport routes.

This takes us to 17 villages completed, and 20,000 Gambians with clean water. We have received some great letters from the villagers who want to pass on their thanks to everyone who has donated or been involved. Still a way to go with a long list of villages without clean water.
